The Compliment Journal.
In just 5 minutes a day, this activity can help you develop more confidence.
This activity involves you recording daily ‘positives’ about yourself in your Compliment Journal. This can include your personal or professional traits or skills.
For example, after helping someone deal with an issue at work, you might record yourself as being ‘supportive’ in your journal.
Another example might be recording yourself as being ‘patient’, after a challenging interaction with either a relative or customer.
NOTE: Only ‘positives’ are being recorded. This way you can encourage yourself by reading over your qualities on days when you’re feeling less confident.
You can also include ‘positive feedback’ you receive from others. Just note it is from someone else and not your own view.
When building confidence, consistency is key! So it’s important you look for positives every day to build or re-draw a picture of yourself.
As you make changes in how you view yourself, based on what you record about yourself (evidence), this may challenge the historical stories you’ve told yourself or maybe that others have told you.
In telling yourself your new stories, based on what you record, your confidence will grow.
