A letter to you future self…

How powerful it can be when you write a letter to your future self.

Yes, sounds strange doesn’t it that you write a letter to yourself. But the letter is to your ‘future self’ – so writing to yourself, but maybe in 1, 2 or 5 years time.

It’s gives you an opportunity to think about your future.

It’s gives you an opportunity to think about what you’d like to change in your life, e.g. your commitment to wellbeing, changing your job, starting studying, losing weight, as well as what you’d like to achieve.

You then sign and date it and put it away.

This activity can also help you to set some goals – as you are considering your future self and the changes you’ve written about, can become your goals.

Once the time scale has passed, you then re-read your letter and reflect on which goals you’ve achieved and which you haven’t.

Reflection is key to developing your self awareness and may help to identify some habits or patterns of thinking that may need to be addressed.
